To BAY AREA BLACK PILOT ASSOCIATON
Our Mission is to Motivate, Teach, and Inspire our
youth through aviation and offering them an opportunity to attend our no-cost
Pilot Ground School Training.
1. To increase the public’s awareness of the contributions made by many Afro-Americans in the field of aviation.
2. To introduce youth to the excellent career opportunities in the aviation industry.
3. To conduct educational events to promote safe flying among the membership
4. To provide opportunities for private pilots and aviation enthusiasts a way to simply fly and enjoy camaraderie.
What we do
The Bay Area Black Pilots Association activities include fly-ins, career day seminars for minority youth, media appearances (informational), introduction to aviation (free plane rides), community outreach and networking with other pilots.
BABPA participates in several Open Houses each year.
The membership also serves as a network of professional contacts for aviation related resources.
Membership in BABPA is open to men and women of all ethnic backgrounds.
Aviation, like sports, is a powerful means of bringing people of diverse backgrounds together. East Bay Aviators, Inc, aka Motivation and Learning Through Aviation (MALTA) founded by Ben L. Henderson in 2007 it is a volunteer, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization designed to use aviation to empower the youth and young adults who are interested in aviation as a career. Aviation in general is an expensive career and it can cost you thousands of dollars. The cost makes it impossible for some students to be able to attend and get involved in aviation especially those students who are underprivileged. We offer a NO-COST Private Pilot Ground School training since we are a non-profit organization. We do accept donations. We are committed to making a change for those students who show interest and/or dream of a career in aviation. East Bay Aviators, Inc. is here to help in hope we can make that dream come true.
According to DataUSA 2016 gender competition in the workforce as Aircraft Pilot and Flight Engineers. African Americans/Black, Asians, Hispanics and others contribute to only 7.7% of the work force in Aviation as Pilots and Flight Engineers. We would like to change the percentage and give those underprivileged kids and adults the opportunity. Aviation in general is an expensive career and it can cost you thousands of dollars.
